Abstract: Researchers at ETH Zurich have successfully developed a controllable microrobotic system integrated with iron oxide nanoparticles. Using an advanced external modular electromagnetic navigation system (Navion), clinicians can guide these micron-sized capsules through the human body's highly complex vascular networks in real-time. The system can precisely navigate varying blood flow velocities in cranial arteries to deliver thrombolytic drugs directly to lesions—such as retinal thrombosis or micro-tumors—without damaging vessel walls. This technology opens a new era for non-invasive microsurgery and is expected to significantly reduce the risks associated with traditional catheterization.
