On October 15, Su Hang, a Ph.D. candidate and alum of the "Zhiyuan Ninth Cohort" (Class of 2020) in Physics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, co-authored a research paper titled "Photomagnetic-Chiral Anisotropy Mediated by Chirality-Driven Asymmetric Spin Splitting" in the top-tier physics journal Physical Review Letters.
Details:
The study revealed the regulatory mechanism of chirality-driven asymmetric spin splitting on the photomagnetic response. By constructing a theoretical framework coupling chirality, spin, and photomagnetism, the research elucidated the physical origin of directional magnetization induced by circularly polarized light in specific chiral materials. This discovery not only provides a new microscopic perspective for understanding photomagnetic coupling in chiral materials but also lays a theoretical foundation for developing novel light-controlled magnetic devices.
